The World Ocean Council commits to establishing by 2019 a series of international, multi-industry ocean issue platforms to address three key forms of transboundary ocean pollution and facilitating the operation of these platforms over at least a 5-year period.

The Smart Ocean-Smart Industries (SO-SI), also by the World Ocean Council, Program is a major initiative to catalyze industry leadership in contributing to the long term science and understanding of the ocean. The SO-SI Program will facilitate ocean industry efforts to collect and share data that: a) contributes to describing the status, trends and variability of ocean, weather and climate (including ocean acidification); and b) improves the understanding, modeling, forecasting, monitoring and management of ocean ecosystems, resources, weather and climate, and improving disaster risk reduction efforts.
CITES working for sustainable fisheries delivering on needs-driven capacity building.
Lead Entity: Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES).
The second phase of a project by the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) will contribute to the recovery of the stocks of CITES listed species to sustainable levels (SDG 14.4)

The Government of Nigeria, through the Forestry Commission, Calabar, Cross River State, has committed to implementing a Ecosystem Based Adaptation approaches to both mangrove and the Atlantic Ocean coast line in Cross River State.

Lead Entity: China Energy Fund Committee (CEFC)
The China Energy Fund Committee (CEFC), in partnership with UN-DESA, commits to address issues such as lack of access to financial resources, credit, business operation capacities, market analysis skills and management skills. The beneficiaries could include small-scale artisanal fishery operators, the public sector agencies, local communities, local cooperatives, as well as the business association in support of MSMEs. It is expected that the eventual beneficiaries of the project will also include the MSME entrepreneurs including women and youth.
Joint Roadmap to accelerate Marine/Maritime Spatial Planning worldwide

The take-up of MSP is increasing worldwide and a significant body of experience and best practice has been developed over the last decade. However, there are still different levels of implementation of MSP processes in the world, including areas where MSP is in its infancy and where joint learning, improved cooperation or capacity building is needed, or areas where arrangements for MSP may exist but a strategic approach to facilitate coordination would be beneficial.
However, more work is needed. That is the reason why the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of UNESCO (IOC-UNESCO) and the Directorate-General for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries of the European Commission (DG MARE) adopted on 24 March 2017 a "Joint Roadmap to accelerate Maritime/Marine Spatial Planning processes worldwide". It will contribute to sketching out a vision and a role for MSP in implementing Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development, and in particular the dedicated goal SDG 14, in a comprehensive, consistent and holistic way, both within the EU and beyond at the international level.

The Northern Mozambique Channel partnership initiative, through the NGO CORDIO East Africa, is an emerging partnership of countries, civil society and the private sector, whose goal is to deliver a sustainable blue economy that preserves and builds its wealth across the natural, social, and economic capitals. Its long term vision, that the people, countries and economies of the Northern Mozambique Channel prosper in a sustainable future founded on the natural and cultural assets and diversity of the region is concordant with Agenda 2030 and the Sustainable Development Goals, aiming for long term benefits in 2030 and into the future.

The Ocean Sanctuary Alliance (OSA) - a partnership among member-states, scientists, and other leaders from across disciplines - is committed to assisting member states, directly and through the 10x20 initiative, to create new MPAs and to make existing MPAs more effective. The 10x20 initiative has convened many events since its inception, which have been attended by more than 70 member states. One of most significant events convened by OSA under the auspices of 10x20 was the conference in Rome in March 2016 in partnership with Italy and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).

The Ocean Project, a Non-governmental organization, in partnership with UNEP and in support of Clean Seas Campaign, is developing an online exhibition that will feature resources - videos, photos, infographics, reports, etc - that can help aquariums, zoos and museums engage their audiences on the issue of plastic pollution in our ocean.
Artists Project Earth (APE UK)

The NGO Artists Project Earth (APE) raises funds from releasing music albums to support environmental projects. The NGO commits to release an album titled Plastic Oceans by end 2017, featuring artists such as Ed Sheeran, Bob Dylan, Beyonce, Coldplay, and others, with the purpose of raising awareness and funds for projects aiming to counter plastics pollution of the oceans.

UNESCO/IOC Sub-Commission for the Western Pacific (WESTPAC) is committed to establishing a regional research and monitoring network on ocean acidification in the Western Pacific and its adjacent regions, as part of global efforts and with technical assistance of US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, to monitor the ecological impacts of ocean acidification on coral reef ecosystems, mainly through a series of regional trainings & workshops, selection of pilot areas, and transfer of knowledge and technology among experts, institutions within and outside the region.

The Global Partnership on Nutrient Management (GPNM) is a global mechanism to bring together and harmonize otherwise fragmented efforts to address the nutrient challenge amongst a great many number of stakeholders. These diverse stakeholders include government, research and academia, agricultural and fertilizer producer organizations in the private sector, regional and international intergovernmental organizations, non-governmental organizations and the UN agencies. The GPNM provides a space/platform including through its electronic platform where countries and other stakeholders can meet and initiate dialogues to forge more co-operative work across the variety of international and regional fora and agencies dealing with nutrients
