Description/achievement of initiative

Two major steps in the process of UPC's transformation towards sustainability will receive special attention in the period 2012-1015. One is the new University Research Institute for Sustainability Science and Technology, IS.UPC, a key tool for institutional transformation and academic commitment (http://is.upc.edu/), and the second is a new structure and communicating policy of the overall activities that constitutes the UPC's approach to its social responsibility (http://www.upc.edu/rsu).

Implementation methodologies

Both actions will complement the expected results of the second phase of the 2015 UPC Sustainability Plan. This second phase will focus on the integration of Sustainable Development principles into decentralized management structures (campuses, schools, departments) with special emphasis on including sustainability commitment in contracting and supplies. The Global Compact report will be prepared and presented annually, as previously done since 2010.
