Women leadership in water & sanitation
Description/achievement of initiative

Globally: Women's leadership in WASH is acknowledged and is adequately supported.

Nationally: Women Civil Society networks on WATSAN are operational. National platforms for exchange and facilitation established including partnerships with local, regional and national authorities and stakeholders.
In countries were partnerships with national and local authorities already exist, WfWP country/regional programmes implemented.

Community level: Women are empowered and enabled to participate actively e.g. in CBased water delivery management and regional and national decision-making. Knowledge and expertise will have been have transferred to women's organisations especially in developing countries. Women take informed decisions, leading their own communities.

Implementation methodologies

We will multiply our successful approaches in the countries where the WfWP member organisations reside or work, using the WfWP empowerment tools to build local capacity of women and their organisations.

We will disseminate knowledge and expertise from and through our members (twinning) through the women civil society networks that are already in place or being developed so women can take informed decisions and be leaders in their own communities.

We will up-scale our Women Leadership in Water & Sanitation programmes to encompass new countries and regions.

WfWP will assist in fundraising and establishing contact with authorities and other women's organisations

WfWP will take the initiative to establish a women and water development fund.
