Tonga Solar Power Plant
Description/achievement of initiative

Implementing a 500 kW PV Power plant feeding around 695 MWh per year into the grid In the touristic Island of the kingdom of Tonga

Implementation methodologies

The Project will result in reducing the cost of electricity for consumers in Vava'u and will reduce Tonga's economical dependency to oil price fluctuations. This is achieved by:

Feeding solar electricity into the grid reducing the cost of electricity to consumers, and Reducing consumption of 180,000 L/year of diesel. The Plant fullfills 13 % of the demand of the island.
