Description/achievement of initiative
The University of Catania during next years will continue to reduce its carbon footprint by different actions, including dissemination informations related with a responsable use of resources between students, teachers and administrative employees.
Implementation methodologies
In particular, the University of Catania aims:
-to encourage the use of electronic market for public admistration procurement;
-to reduce the counsumption of paper and save energy using also for official communications telematic communication technologies;
-to obtain energy using photovoltaic panels;
-to support sustainable methods of tranports in and around campus;
-to support research into green technologies;
-to take part in the local Observatory on waste collection and reconversion of waste materials;
-to adopt, in collaboration with the local municipality of the city of Catania, an efficacy and efficency collection system of collection and disposal of waste materials in the buildings of the University;
-to continue to take part in network at National and International level on sustainable acitivities carried out by public administrations (eg. green public procurement ).
