Securing a sustainable future for all: What is SCP, why does it matter and how do we include it in a set of sustainable development goals within the global post-2015 agenda?
Retreat for Government representatives participating in the Open Working Group on Sustainable Development Goals

To follow on from our save the date email a couple of weeks ago, BioRegional and our partners are pleased to send you further information on the half day retreat on sustainable consumption and production (SCP) and the post-2015 development agenda.

This high-level event will seek to identify concrete recommendations on how SCP can be embedded in a set of global goals.

Through a series of panel discussions, presentations and participant dialogue across three sessions this retreat will address some of the relationships between SCP and areas like food, water and energy, and participants will share ideas about how SCP could be included in the new global development framework.

Session overview:

Session 1: What is SCP and why does it matter: the scale of the challenge and metrics for measuring
Session 2: How to include SCP in a post-2015 development framework: proposals for addressing and embedding SCP in a set of global development goals
Session 3: Round table reflections: an opportunity to discuss the presentations and share views with other participants

Speakers will include:

Nikhil Seth, Director of the Division for Sustainable Development, UNDESA
Sue Riddlestone, CEO and Co-Founder, BioRegional
Mathis Wackernagel, President, Global Footprint Network (GFN)
Alessandra Alfieri, Chief of Environmental-Economic Accounts Section, UN Statistics Division
