The importance of sustainable and resilient restart and recovery of civil aviation for the recovery of global economy and the expansion of trade and tourism
Thursday, 8 July 2021
7:30 AM - 9:00 AM
Virtual (NY Time)

Side Event

International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO)

As we operate in a highly interconnected world with complex industries, post-COVID-19 recovery of the many sectors of the economy will rely heavily on air connectivity restoration. The event therefore intends to feature interventions and discussions on how the health and prosperity of the other industries including trade and tourism industry will be influenced by the recovery of aviation industry, where the fallouts of the crisis and subsequent serious contractions in connectivity has placed the economic livelihoods and stability of entire societies and regions at risk, including their ability to achieve the SDGs by 2030.

Through the side event, ICAO aims to promote leveraging synergies and, where possible, coordinating efforts across sectors to achieve common goals such identifying vulnerabilities, capturing opportunities for developing resilience, and addressing challenges in reconnecting the world and “building back better” in the Decade of Action.
