Questionnaire on issues related to the environmental3effects related to waste originating
from chemical munitions dumped at sea.
    Situation
    1. Grenada is a small island developing state that depends heavily on its marine and coastal
resources for our development. Fisheries, tourism and leisure activities depend on the
marine environment. Materials dumped offshore or near to shore are carried around the
world by oceanic currents, as a result chemicals from chemical munitions dumped at sea
can create health and other environmental problems and these effects will depend on the
    chemical that are dumped.
    2. I am not sure if the scientific community of the region monitors or examines the
environmental effects related to WOCMDS, but this in not monitored in Grenada.
    Response to Incidents
    3. I have never, in my experience, heard or seen any such events, so the experience
    responding to WOCMDS is lacking.
    4. I do not think that Grenada has the capacity to respond to WOCMDS.
    5. No, no action plan exists regarding WOCMDS and I know of no intention to do so,
because we have not had any experience with WOCMDS before. I do know that a plan
for response to OIL SPILLs exists.
    Raising awareness and other action
    6. No information on WOCMDS has been provided.
    7. Because this has never been experienced in Grenada, I doubt there any such partnerships.
    Cooperation
    8. No.
    9. As this topic is little heard of or experienced in Grenada, it would be in our best interest
to cooperate I assessments and to increase public awareness of the possibility of such an
    occurrence.
