International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) Statement on Libraries and Development
The SDGs will need community partners to support implementation at the local level. With 320,000 public libraries worldwide, and tens of thousands more school, academic and research libraries, attention should be paid to existing infrastructure and resources when considering how to ensure development information reaches and is used by individuals. The IFLA Statement on Libraries and Development sets out what libraries can bring to the table, and asks that the post-2015 development framework recognises the role of access to information as a fundamental element supporting development.
