Asian-Pacific Coastal Zone Environment Assessment
Description/achievement of initiative

The main objectives of the CEACOZ include:
* To identify major trends of environmental changes in Asian coastal zone, such as driving forces, conditions, and response to strategies and measures,
* To establish scientific knowledge base for policy formulation and decision making toward sustainable development in Asia, and
* To create a common platform for scientists, policy makers, NGOs and business enterprises so as to promote dialogues on coastal zone management to develop constructive and cooperative linkages among all of the stakeholders in this region, making full use of a series of the International Conference on the Environmental Management of Enclosed Coastal Seas (EMECS).
