Description/achievement of initiative

Statoil comits to reducing global gas flaring through participation in World Bank Global Gas Flaring Reduction initiative (GGFR) and setting a company flaring intensity target.

Proactively invite peers (oil companies) to join the initiative and to establish flaring reduction commitments. 2012
Contribute with competence and expertise to GGFR through secondments. 2015
Participate in phase 4 of GGFR with increased funding. 2015
Statoil flaring intensity target is maximum 2 tons of gas flared per 1000 tons of hydrocarbons produced. 2020
Continue implementation of Statoil's no production flaring requirement in Statoil operated licenses. 2030
