Operationalization of the post-2015 development agenda for African industrialization

Held during the UN SDGs Summit (25-27 September) and the 70th Session of the UN General Assembly, the event will bring together African leaders, heads of relevant UN Organizations, and key development actors to discuss partnerships for the effective operationalization of the post-2015 development agenda in Africa, particularly as related to SDG 9 on “resilient infrastructure, inclusive and sustainable industrialization, and innovation”.

The event will be co-organized by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), the African Union Commission (AUC), the Office of the Special Advisor on Africa (OSAA), and the UN Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA).

Key participants invited to attend include Ban Ki-Moon, UN Secretary-General; Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma, Chairperson of AUC; Abdel Fattah Al Sisi, President of Egypt; Muhammadu Buhari, President of Nigeria; Paul Kagame, President of Rwanda; Macky Sall, President of Senegal; Hailemariam Dessalegn, Prime Minister of Ethiopia; LI Yong, Director General of UNIDO; Carlos Lopes, Executive Secretary of the Economic Commission for Africa; Maged Abdelaziz, Under-Secretary-General and Special Advisor on Africa; Tony Elumelu, Chairman of Heirs Holdings, the United Bank for Africa, and Transcorp.
