As part of the UN project on mobilizing STI in developing countries for the SDGs, UN DESA, the Fundação Oswaldo Cruz (FIOCRUZ), and UNDP’s RIO+ Centre in Brazil are co-organizing an "International Consultation on Science, Technology and Innovation in the Implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its Health-Related Goals," in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil from 6 to 8 November 2017. The meeting objective is to strengthen the capacity of public-health sector stakeholders in Brazil and other developing countries on harnessing STI for SDGs. The meeting will include a one-day segment dedicated to the discussion of developing country user’s perspectives to effectively access STI resources that are made available through online mechanisms such as FIOCRUZ’s STI-health platform. The meeting will have the participation of 50 to 60 experts, including 10 to 15 international participants, from government, the private sector, non-governmental organisations, and research institutions.
