This webinar was jointly organized by DESA/DSDG together with the Ministry of Industries and Supply Chain Management and the Ministry of Small and Medium Business and Enterprise Development, Sri Lanka. It coordinated dialogue among policymakers, researchers and participants from the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector on impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic on MSMEs in Sri-Lanka. The webinar also explored policy measures supporting the resurgence of MSMEs in Sri Lanka in the new market structure after the Covid-19 outbreak. Dr. Amson Sibanda, Chief, National Strategies and Capacity Building Branch, DESA/DSDG delivered the opening remarks, and Mr. J.A. Ranjith, Secretary, Ministry of Industries and Supply Chain Management, delivered the closing remarks at the webinar. Mr. Monty Ranatunga, Secretary, Ministry of Small and Medium Business and Enterprise Development also delivered a keynote speech on policies released by the Government of Sri Lanka to support MSMEs overcoming the Covid-19 challenge. DESA/DSDG would continue working closely with the Government of Sri Lanka on improving MSME resilience towards external shocks, including the Covid-19 pandemic.
