Capacity Building Event: The Impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic on Micro-, Small, and Medium-sized Enterprises (MSMEs) in the Creative Industry Sector in the Philippines

This webinar will be jointly organized by DESA/DSDG together with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), the Philippines at 08:00-09:00am 23 July PHT (08:00-09:15pm 22 July EDT). The webinar will be a part of the national MSME week of the Philippines hosted by the DTI. It aims to explore impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on MSMEs in the creative industry sector in the Philippines and policy measures to enhance MSME resilience to external shocks, including COVID-19. Mr. Amson Sibanda, Chief, National Strategies and Capacity Building Branch, DESA/DSDG and Ms. Blesila Lantayona, Undersecretary, DTI, the Philippines will deliver the opening remarks at the webinar. DESA/DSDG has supported DTI in compiling a report on impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on MSMEs in the creative industry sector and progress to the Sustainable Development Goals in the Philippines. Findings of the report will also be presented at the webinar to prompt further discussions among stakeholders on supporting MSMEs in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic. DESA/DSDG will continue working closely with the DTI, the Philippines to improve MSME resilience towards external shocks, including the COVID-19 pandemic.
