The event will provide a virtual space to voice indigenous peoples’ views on how to augment their inclusion in the immediate Covid-19 crisis response and in the long-term recovery strategies to ensure that they are not pushed behind. The side event intends to explore the potential of the recommendations made by international/regional human rights mechanisms dealing with indigenous peoples’ rights bringing together indigenous peoples representatives, UN institutions, regional human rights institutions, State representatives to discuss their respective and complementary roles in advancing transformative actions to break the systems that are causing unsustainable development and social injustice for >476m Indigenous Peoples
