This event highlights how policy incoherence between the Paris Agreement and the 2030 Agenda at the national level exacerbates inequalities. The panelists share research findings from six countries demonstrating tradeoffs between inequality and other climate and development goals, highlighting the need for increased policy coherence. With Kenya due to submit its VNR at the 2020 HLPF, this event will deep-dive into Kenya’s experiences with overcoming policy incoherence between the climate and development agendas. Stakeholders from the Kenyan government will share their insights on how to enhance synergies and mitigate conflicts in order to make progress and minimize inequality tradeoffs.
