Since the launch of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Sustainable Development Goals, the United Nations Development Group (UNDG) has been supporting the implementation of the global goals on the national and sub-national level. At this event, the UNDG publication, “The SDGs are Coming to Life: Stories of Country Implementation and UN Support” will be launched to provide a glimpse into the early efforts of sixteen countries in implementing the SDGs and the role of the UN Country Teams (UNCTs) in the process. The sixteen countries include: Brazil, Cabo Verde, Dominican Republic, Egypt, El Salvador, Georgia, Indonesia, Mauritania, Montenegro, Morocco, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Pakistan, Philippines, Uganda and Turkmenistan
At the event, the key findings of the publication will be presented and country governments will share their reflections about the publication as well as speak about the ongoing efforts, lessons and challenges in implementing the 2030 Agenda and the SDGs. This event will provide an opportunity for mutual learning by sharing country experiences and for discussing the potential roles that the UN can play to further support countries on SDG implementation.
