Against the backdrop of COVID-19, local and national governments must ensure close collaboration to recover and to continue progress on the 2030 Agenda.

Cities and regions have a crucial role to play in SDG achievement. Most underlying policies and investments are a shared responsibility across levels of government. It is estimated that 65% of 169 targets underlying the 17 SDGs will not be reached without proper engagement and coordination with local and regional governments.

This high-level event provides opportunities to bridge perspectives from the voluntary national reviews, which form the backbone of the HLPF, with evidences from cities and regions.
