The ongoing pandemic is shifting the patterns of urban violence across the world, posing a further challenge to delivering on the promise of SDG16. Yet, reducing violence in cities and urban areas will be essential to make a meaningful progress in reaching the target SDG16.1 in the Decade of Action. This event will be an opportunity to ask questions on how and why the pandemic is affecting urban crime and violence; spotlight what are cities doing to prevent and reduce it; and present innovation in benchmarking safer cities. It will also shed light on the important role local and subnational authorities play in delivering of the 2030 Agenda.
