Make Mothers Matter

Objectives:
  • To raise awareness of the shortsightedness of our current economic system on the essential role of Care, especially unpaid care work performed within families and communities, for our economies and societies, and how its generates poverty among women
  • To make the case for a paradigm shift in our economic thinking so that spending in care and education are considered as investments - not expenses
  • To call on governments to action: the Covid-19 crisis and its subsequent economic devastation provide a unique opportunity to “build back better”, by decoupling our economies from GDP growth and prioritizing Care for wellbeing and sustainability
