Africa Day at HLPF 2020 will emphasize the need to scale up the use of digital technologies across Africa as a contributing factor towards building societies that are more resilient to external shocks, that can silence the guns and sustain peace, and that ensure the health of all their people, especially in view of the current COVID-19 pandemic. The theme highlights the transformative nature of bridging the digital divide, as a means toward combating inequality while promoting inclusiveness and an Africa where no one is left behind. Africa Day will reinforce the message of the overall 2020 High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development, which is: "Accelerated action and transformative pathways: realizing the decade of action and delivery for sustainable development ". In this respect, Africa Day is taking place within the context of the remaining ten years to accomplish the SDGs (Decade of Action 2020-2030).

The event will be available live and on demand on UN Web TV: http://webtv.un.org/ as well
