Tuesday, 6 July 2021
7:30 AM - 9:00 AM
Virtual (NY Time)

Side Event

United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)

The event will highlight a glass half-full moment for global development: Country examples and new research by UNDP will emphasize the power of policy choices that avoided deeper development reversals during the COVID-19 pandemic. This includes the effects of $14 trillion dollars in fiscal support and loan guarantees; expanded jobs and livelihoods strategies, stronger social protection systems, stronger political consensus, and rights-based empowerment strategies. Crucially, these bold new policies are practical pointers on how to turn the crisis into an opportunity for a concerted push towards SDG achievement and a transition to a sustainable, inclusive and resilient future.
