Tuesday, 6 July 2021
7:30 AM - 9:00 AM
Virtual (NY Time)

Side Event

NGO Major Group

This side event will hear directly from community voices from different parts of the world on action steps needed for a sustainable and resilient recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. A priority of this session is to ensure the lived experiences of those who are most severely affected by the pandemic are directly included in national assessments of the inter-connected challenges faced by us all; and in setting priorities for a fairer and more sustainable future.

Thematic Focus:
Connecting frontline voices and highlighting interlinkages between combating poverty, reducing inequality, ensuring equitable access to healthcare, protection of nature and guaranteeing transparent and accountable governance, so as to ensure a holistic and sustainable future “in which humanity lives in harmony with nature and in which wildlife and other living species are protected”. To build an inclusive and effective path for the achievement of the 2030 Agenda in the context of the decade of action and delivery for sustainable development; to provide for the needs of people now and ensure planetary health is protected and respected for future generations.
