Documentation
The Permanent Mission of Denmark to the UN and Danish Ministry of Finance with The 2030 Panel and Statistics Denmark

This side event will elaborate on the approach of the national parliaments from Argentina, Denmark, Kenya and Malaysia, and their dialogue with the stakeholders in order to ensure a collaborative national follow-up on the global goals. It will furthermore describe the challenges, interdependencies and proposals for action areas in this regard. The event will start by outlining general areas of focus that national parliaments can consider in their actions and will continue to elaborate on the possible role of national parliaments in relation to the global goals exemplified by the experiences from Argentina, Denmark, Kenya, and Malaysia.

The interplay between the decision-makers and a broad range of stakeholders will be demonstrated by a presentation on the role and work of the Danish SDG-expert body, the 2030 Panel that was set up to support the Danish Parliament in actions relating to the Sustainable Development Goals.

Finally, the event will present the ‘Our Goal’ project, which is a concrete example of one of the culminations of the Danish inclusive approach. The project has developed a proposal for Danish Sustainable Development indicators in a broadly anchored process through inputs from stakeholders such as civil society, the private sector, academia, government agencies, and the ‘average Dane’. One of the main objectives of the project was to increase awareness on the Goals among the Danes and to measure and facilitate political action towards the 2030 Agenda in a national context
