The event will be the official high-level launch of "The COVID-19 Stimulus Tracker: Global Observatory on Social Protection Policy Responses". The Observatory is a dynamic interactive platform that presents COVID-19 policy responses of governments and central banks for 194 countries around the World. It is funded by the Development Account Project on building capacities on social protection responses to the pandemic, implemented by all UN regional commissions and UNCTAD.

A key feature of this tool is that the data on social protection policy measures/categories are harmonized across countries in the world to facilitate regional and global comparisons of social protection systems. It is a living database and gets updated periodically.

The observatory facilitates the Member States, stakeholders’ and users’ easy navigation of policy support measures enacted by governments and Central Banks in response to the pandemic. The Global Observatory is an important reference to inform countries about social protection systems and good practices across the world, and it is a hands-on tool for policymakers, practitioners, and researchers to find quality information for situation assessment and profile of social protection systems across countries.
