In the context of the International year for the elimination of child labour (IYECL), this HLPF 2021 side event will focus on the Elimination of Child Labour, particularly on the Dutch multi-stakeholder approach in global supply chains in which the Dutch government collaborates with business. We dive into the root causes of child labour (like living wage/income parents), and focus on improving prospects for young people through quality education which prepares for decent work and income. Government, business representatives and young people from production and consumption countries in global supply chains will discuss these themes in two consecutive panel discussions.

In this session panelists from the Dutch and Ghanaian Government, the multinational enterprise Heineken, a local supplier, and a youth representative, will participate in an open dialogue. This dialogue focuses on the challenges and needs panelists perceive in eliminating child labour in supply chains. The panelists will also exchange lessons learned and articulate (joint) action to further enhance efforts to fight child labour.

We also invite you to already send in questions to the panel via HLPF2021@minbuza.nl.

We are very much looking forward to your participation in this event.
