Nigeria Network of NGOs
Information on the purpose of your organization

The Nigeria Network of NGOs (NNNGO) is the first generic membership body for civil society organizations in Nigeria that facilitates effective advocacy on issues of poverty and other developmental issues. Established in 1992, NNNGO represents over 1800 organizations ranging from small groups working at the local level, to larger networks working at the national level.

The Network is charged with the objective of identifying, registering, coordinating, building capacity and mobilizing civil society organizations to promote interconnectivity and bring equity, justice, peace and development to grassroots communities throughout Nigeria, including the implementation of NEEDS, SEEDS, LEEDS and the MDGs.

Our membership includes over 20 national organizations and over 250 membership organizations focusing on different thematic areas of development, all of whom work to support a diverse range of membership communities across the nation. In total our outreach to the third sector in Nigeria is estimated to be in the excess of 5000 which includes both members and affiliates at national and global levels.

NNNGO champions a sector that is accountable, independent and truly representative of giving a voice to the common man.

Worked with the Africa CSO Working Group on Post 2015, Beyond 2015 and Action 2015 to engage with the UN system on the new post 2015 development agenda. We were part of series of high level engagement meetings at the UN in New York, Nairobi, Ethiopia,Nigeria and Senegal. Using stories collected from our members, we reviewed and made inputs into the Open Working Group (OWG) reports of the UN which laid the foundation for the UN Secretary General?s Report on the Post 2015 development agenda. NNNGO is the National Focal Point for Action 2015; we also co-chair the global strategic communication action team of Action 2015. Action 2015 is one of the largest and most diverse campaign coalitions ever founded, united in the focus to make 2015 a huge breakthrough moment for people and planet with regards to the post 2015 discussions. We have continued to mobilise citizens voices on the post 2015 development goals in Nigeria.
