Our vision is an inclusive, just and equitable society. We advocate for social change to improve the well-being of Western Australians and to strengthen the community services sector that support them. The Council supports our membership in the delivery of social services throughout Western Australia and represents the interests of vulnerable and disadvantaged people across the state. We undertake social policy research, development and advocacy and deliver sector services and development support. Our social policy program areas include early childhood development, child protection, housing and homelessness, Indigenous justice, health and others. Our sector services and development program areas include emergency relief, farming communities, non-profit governance and management, leadership and others.
Information on activities at the national or international levels
The Council works as part of a national network of Councils of Social Service in each state and territory of Australia. Our collaborative work at a national level focuses on poverty reduction, housing and homelessness, emergency relief and disaster preparedness, strengthening civil society and the sustainability of social services. The Council is represented on the Civil Society Advisory Council of the Commonwealth Foundation and has contributed input to UN post-2015 agenda consultations through this activity. The Council has sponsored the participation of Indigenous delegates in international events through the Commonwealth People's Forums in Perth and Sri Lanka.
