Information on the purpose of your organization

The Dalit Welfare Association (DWA), established in 1996 and registered in the office of District Administration in Nawalparasi, is a member-based movement-oriented non-government organization (NGO) of Dalit activists and is one of the largest Dalit human rights NGOs in Nepal. With strong commitment and past experience, DWA has been implementing different program such as Non Formal Education Program Sport and Development, Media advocacy, Rights Based Advocacy through lobbying, Street drama, interactions, community awareness raising and through the Media, DWA have own Community Radio Station Pratibodh FM 102.4MHz at kohalpur in Banke , Livelihoods & Economic Empowerment and Health sector.

DWA is pioneer Dalit NGO in Nepal and works to create justifiable society by eliminating caste based discrimination and Untouchbility through its program implementation. It empowers Dalits- to make them aware of their rights and improve their access to education and the nation's resources. In order to address issues of discrimination and Untouchbility in Nepalese, DWA has adopted two main approaches i.e. media advocacy and community development program in order to eliminate systematic and structural caste based discrimination and Untouchbility in Nepal.

Since 1996, the Dalit Welfare Association (DWA) has been delivering social, cultural, educational, economical and political empowerment as well as rights awareness projects in all corners of Nepal. DWA has offices (chapters) in 65 districts of Nepal's 75 administrative districts. Currently, DWA is implementing over 20 long term project in Nepal. It has head office in Kathmand and works through the district chapters in Nepal. Below are some activities DWA is continuously implementing.
