Centre For Convention on Democratic Integrity Ltd/Gte
Information on the purpose of your organization

Centre For Convention On Democratic Integrity Ltd/Gte is not a nonprofit organization working for a stronger and effective sustainable development, democratization process, peace and security. We believe that people?s involvement in all levels of government decision making is essential in order to achieve these main issues that are paramount to the United Nations. People all over the world are experiencing the most severe set of interconnected global problems, financial, economic, climate change and scarcity of basic needs. Today?s complex problems require solutions that reflect partnerships among all sectors. We believe that civil society provides the connectivity between the dynamism inspired by a citizen focused orientation and expert knowledge on relevant issues. We should have the ability to influence government decisions through organized advocacy activities and power to achieve change through collective action. Much of humankind is vulnerable to natural disasters, extreme poverty, infectious disease and a host of other challenges. One in six people on the planet subsists on less than $1 a day. The world's population is expected to increase to nine billion by 2050. Human activity is straining the planet's resources, threatening the health of our environment and ability to thrive. By blending scientific research, education and practical solutions, we need to provide working guide toward sustainability. We must educate the next generation of leaders in basic sciences and sustainable development, UN cannot do it alone ,we must team together. We focus on the protection of earth's environment and the spread of social and economic opportunities for all people. We believe that dealing with issues such as extreme poverty must involve tackling issues such as environmental degradation, and lack of access to health care and education. Our work reflects the fundamental belief that the world possesses the tools needed to effectively mitigate climate change, poverty and other critical issue. We are committed to combating corruption, promotion of enduring democracy, sustainable electoral process, monitor Nigerian government compliance with international treaties, which were made to promote peace and progress within and among Nations. We strive to protect all rights which are guaranteed or protected by United Nations. Our participation on the work of ECOSOC and other United Nations agencies will be an avenue to promote our shared values

Information on activities at the national or international levels
Based on the experience gathered from our past programmes and activities, we have been able to identify areas that need future attention. We have been able to categorise the areas thus: Democratic Governance - The organisation in conjunction with Rights? Monitoring Group (RMG) (a coalition of 45 civil societies) were accredited by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as elections observers in 2011, Governorship elections of Anambra State in 2013, Ekiti State in 2014, Osun State in 2014 and 2015 general elections in Nigeria and we were able to identify election apathy, lack of proper orientation on the necessity of election participation and some electoral floors. The organisation has in the pipeline as a solution to the identified problems, a series of re-orientation campaigns, civic and voters? education, advocacy for clear-cut boundary delineation by INEC, workshops and seminars with all stake holders that are instrumental to a conduct of free and fair subsequent elections in Nigeria. On anti-corruption crusade the organisation we are working with ,Rights Monitoring Group of which the centre Executive Director/CEO is the National Coordinator , has submitted list of corrupted government officials to government years ago , in Nigeria but the process of justice is relatively slow and most of these cases have not been pursued to a logical conclusion, thereby giving rooms for injustice. It is the plan of the organisation to intensify our collaboration with other civil society organisations and anti corruption agencies. We therefore intend to meet all accountability institutions in Nigeria with the few to understanding their locus-standing and also use same to organize anti-corruption crusade in Nigeria. There are a number of moribund accountability institutions in Nigeria (Code of Conduct Bureau, Public Complaint Commission, etc), the organisation intend to re-awaken them through civic orientation, sensitisation and campaign. We plan to conclude discussion on the establishment of the Centre for Sustainable Development Studies in one of the leading universities in Nigeria, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria where Post-graduate Diploma and Masters will be awarded. Ten States have formally agreed with us to embark MDGs assessment in the States between July ?November 2015. In November 2015, we will organise a three day summit on the achievements of MDGs in Nigeria. The Centre also plans to intensify efforts on Campaign against Mother-Child social malice in Delta State . We already have plan for the following international days; World Day For Social Justice on 20/2/15 with rallies across the country and media briefing .World Water Day on 22/3/15 with press briefing .World Malaria Day on 25/4/15 with a day seminar .International Day For Biological Diversity on 22/5/15 with a day seminar .World Day To Combat Desertification and Drought on the 17/6/15 with a day seminar .International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking on the 26/6/16 with talks in the schools.World Hepatitis Day on 28/7/15 with rally .International Day of Democracy on 21/9/15 with media briefing .International Day of Peace on 17/10/15 with media briefing . and December 10th ?
