Among these are Parkview Adventist Academy (grades 10-12) in Alberta, and Kingsway College (grades 9-12) in Ontario, both providing boarding facilities and a work study program for students. Burman University, located in Alberta, offers accredited under-graduate degrees and certificate programs in a number of disciplines.

Humanitarian Work

The Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) provides practical assistance to the disadvantaged in many countries of the world, without regard for race, religion or nationality. ADRA Canada also responds with needed assistance in times of national disasters as in the 1998 ice-storm that devastated Eastern Ontario and Quebec. ADRA Canada is involved in projects which contributed $7.8 million to 842,557 people in 22 countries in 2014. They will be continuing projects in over 13 countries in 2015, including Bolivia, Rwanda, Syria, and South Sudan.

Here are examples of ADRA projects:

Vanuatu update ? April 28 A little over a month ago Cyclone Pam devastated the islands of Vanuatu. Since the disaster ADRA has responded with shelter kits, water purification systems, and food. With thousands left homeless by the cyclone, shelter has been an immediate need. To that end, ADRA has distributed over 3,000 tarpaulin shelters to the islanders. These shelters provide a safe, dry place to live as the cleanup and rebuilding continue. In the aftermath of such a disaster as Cyclone Pam, the spread of waterborne disease is always a concern. To help prevent the worsening of an already difficult situation, ADRA, in partnership with GlobalMedic, delivered almost 500 water and sanitation kits to communities on the island of Ambrym. These kits include hygiene supplies and a simple water purification system. ADRA and its local volunteers are also assisting in the installation of systems that collect and purify rain water. On the island of Efate, ADRA volunteers continue to refill a 6,000 Litre tank, provided by World Vision, with river water which is then filtered, continually providing safe water to approximately 300 people in the community.

Community Involvement

Our local churches operate Community Centers that provide food and clothing to those in need. Family life counselling and other programs are also offered to assist those wishing to overcome drug addiction and alcohol or tobacco dependence. Our family training seminars address domestic violence, parenting techniques, and healthy marriages.

Health Focus

Adventists are known for their health focus. To this end, we offer vegetarian cooking classes, and teach health classes in the community.

Religious Liberty

The Seventh-day Adventist Church in Canada is a noted defender of religious liberty and has intervened on most major cases involving religious liberty that reach the Supreme Court of Canada. In 2015 we were involved in Loyola High School v Quebec (AG), and also TWU v Law Society of British Columbia.
