Information on the purpose of your organization

PRAN is a non-governmental and non-partisan Policy Research & Advocacy Organization (RPA)? in Bangladesh. PRAN has been searching for development alternatives to strengthen people's initiative by promoting human rights, economic rights, Climate Resilience, governance, trade justice and sustainable livelihoods. The organization is working to ensure participatory governance processes, strengthening civil society group, ensuring a linkage in research to policy practices, watching the progress of the Millennium Development Goals in Bangladesh. Inception on 2004 by some innovative and enthusiastic social and cultural activist from different sectors of the society,PRAN is working intensively with the poor, marginal and underprivileged biodiversity dependent people i.e. forest people, indigenous communities, marginal farmers and climate vulnerable people. PRAN is actively connected many National and International Networks and CSO group. The mission of the organization is to facilitate CSOs ans citizen actors for collective actions towards establishing economic, social, cultural, political and environmental rights as well as bringing about accountable and transparent governance system at all level.

The organization has been designed its all programmes and activities under 5 theme

1. Sustainable Livelihoods
2. Rights and Social Justice
3. Economic and Ecological Justice
4. Responsive Governance, and
5. Integrated Knowledge Management

Most of our activities are very relevant to the subject of the summit. Since 2005 PRAN has been working to promote, popularizing and following MDGs in Bangladesh. We are one of the member of GCAP and PHM (peoples forum on MDGs in Bangladesh) and under the network we have published a toolkit to monitor MDGs progress for CSO actors.

We have been working with farmers, local community, CSOs and media to contribute in country development and at the same time we are working with our Government, INGOs and International Network and process for guiding, following, and monitoring to achieve the goals.

We have organize several consultations in country and participated many intonation talks on post MDGs and has been raised our concern through CIVICUS and beyond 2015.

We have many activities at the National level in Bangladesh. These are as below

1. Comprehensive agrarian reform program, supported by Oxfam GB
2. Climate Change and Reproductive health program, Supported by Population Action International, USA
3. Advocacy to ensure right to Food for all, Supported by ActionAid Bangladesh and IFSN
4. Promoting Pro-poor policy formulation for public service for all, Supported by Oxfam Novib
5. Non formal Education for the child in out reach area, Supported by BRAC
