Information on the purpose of your organization
AFEL (Association Feminine la Lumiere) is a non-profit organization whose primary mission is to contribute to a sustainable human development. AFEL was funded in April 1999 and is highly dedicated to inform the populations about the importance of legal documents such as: birth, marriage and death certificates. The organization helps to Improve maternal and child health, to empower women and educate them about sexual discrimination, to protect the environment and to promote women activities that concur to the development of their financial stability such as farming, tailoring, business, etc?
Information on your programmes and activities in areas relevant to the subject of the Summit and in which country or counties they are carried out.
Some of our activities that pertain to the subject of the Summit are listed below:
Promotion and education in 400 localities in all the regions of Togo regarding different social and health issues in the communities
Provision of about twelve thousands (12,000) legal documents to infants and women in the Country of Togo
Creation of eight (8) farming and livestock sites
Participation in the regeneration of the agricultural soil using fertilized plants
Education, training and radio broadcast on pertinent topics of reproductive health
Information on activities at the national or international levels
At the international level, AFEL was part of The World Summit about Women's rights that took place in 2009 and 2011 in New York. It participated in ECOSOC elective Conference in Yaounde, Cameron in 2009.
AFEL and FIA collaborate to maintain political peace in the country of Togo
AFEL is involved with the reduction of early marriage/teen pregnancy at the national level with the collaboration of other local NGOs.
