Jubilee USA Network
Information on the purpose of your organization

Jubilee USA Network is a coalition of religious organizations, labor, development, environmental and human rights organizations working to address the structural causes of extreme poverty around the world.
Information on your programmes and activities in areas relevant to the subject of the Summit and in which country or counties they are carried out.
Jubilee USA's work is primarily global though we do undertake region-specific activities as part of our efforts. Jubilee works to shift international financial policies to benefit the world's poorest people and prevent economic crises. Specifically, we work to win debt relief for poor countries, enact responsible lending and borrowing policies, curb corporate tax avoidance and illicit financial flows, reform international financial institutions to be more accountable and transparent, establish a global bankruptcy process, advance trade policies that promote the common good and stop predatory financial behavior against vulnerable communities.

Our work is relevant to the summit because it builds a global financial system that benefits the world's poorest people and can win billions of dollars to support sustainable development by reducing debt burdens, stopping corruption, promoting responsible lending and borrowing and stabilizing the financial system. Our work has won $130 billion in debt relief for the world's poorest countries, money that achieved a number of development objectives, including sending millions of kids back to school, providing clean water, building schools, hiring teachers, reducing child mortality rates and more.

Right now, we are focusing on a number of specific campaigns. Below is a sample:
1. Winning debt relief and economic reforms on heavily indebted Caribbean islands. Jubilee is involved in debt negotiations between the IMF and heavily indebted Caribbean islands. We helped build a grassroots regional coalition (Jubilee Caribbean Debt Network) to win debt relief and curbs to corporate tax avoidance and austerity as well as critical transparency reforms to give the Caribbean people voice in their governments' economic policies. We won a number of those reforms and millions of dollars in debt relief in Grenada and are working to replicate those efforts on other islands.
2. Jubilee is deeply involved in the UN Ad Hoc Committee on Sovereign Debt Restructuring.
3. Jubilee staff were deeply involved in the FfD process, addressing the UN on the process on multiple occasions and working closely with the lead US negotiator to advance our principles. Our director spoke at the final roundtable forum in Addis. We worked with Kofi Annan and partner organizations to win curbs to illicit financial flows through the process.
4. Jubilee is working to advance trade policies that promote poverty reduction through the US debate over the Trans Pacific Partnership. We're organizing grassroots participation in the process and coordinating religious community education and communication work to support our efforts.
5. Jubilee is working to win debt relief for Nepal after its devastating earthquake through the IMF's new emergency debt relief fund for countries struck by disasters. Jubilee helped create that fund through our efforts on Ebola debt relief that eventually won $100 million in debt forgiveness from the IMF.
Information on activities at the national or international levels
Please see above. Jubilee works on a number of national and international campaigns to advance our core policy work. We are deeply involved with the UN through our director's membership on UN expert working groups, our efforts to shape the outcome of the Ad Hoc Committee on Sovereign Debt Restructuring, our work on FfD and more.
