Information on the purpose of your organization

STUF United Fund Inc. (STUF) is dedicated to promoting and supporting charitable causes in the fields of charity relief, culture and education, public health, and environmental protection. We support projects around the world and aim to become an organization that helps consolidate and distribute resources to ensure a more powerful social impact.

STUF has applied for ECOSOC Consultative Status and the application is scheduled to be reviewed at 2016 Regular Session.

The purposes of STUF United Fund are:

(1) To join the UN?s Global Compact as a NGO and fulfill the business industry?s social responsibility.
(2) To provide communities with supportive resources to carry out causes for charity relief, educational and cultural development, environmental protection, and public health.
(3) To encourage youth to join the global community?s efforts and activities for the betterment of society.
(4) To do any other act or thing incidental to or connected with the foregoing purposes or in advancement thereof, but not for the pecuniary profit or financial gain of its members, directors or officers, except as permitted under Article 5 of the Not-for-Profit Corporation Law.

STUF United Fund?s programs and activities are closely related to the four frameworks and 17 goals of the Post-2015 UN Development Agenda.

Through our Grant Making Program and Affiliate Program, STUF United Fund has supported charity projects in many countries, including Cambodia, Canada, China, Haiti, Japan, Lesotho, Malawi, Paraguay, Philippine, South Africa, Swaziland, Thailand, Uganda, and U.S.A..

STUF United Fund supports 28 NGOs globally through our Affiliate Program and one of the NGOs is ACC (Amitofo Care Center) in South Africa. ACC is an international non-profit organization serving African orphans who lost their parents due to poverty, war, natural disaster, and/or HIV/AIDS. In 2014, STUF United Fund coordinated the ACC Goodwill Mission Tour in North America and arranged fundraising activities in 11 cities and raised more than US $350,000 for ACC. ACC has set up orphanages in four countries in Africa (Lesotho, Malawi, Namibia, and Swaziland), benefiting more than 800 in-resident orphanages and 8,000 community members through outreach center by offering shelter, education, food, and occupational training. Additional orphanages are under construction in Mozambique and South Africa.

STUF United Fund collaborates with Cherish Uganda, which helps orphaned and vulnerable children living with HIV. Through grass-roots interventions and community based partnerships in health and education, Cherish Uganda creates accessible care for children in the communities. STUF United Fund provides funding to Cherish Uganda to build ?Hope Clinic? in Wakiso District. The clinic will help more than 5,000 community residents, whom more than half suffer from extreme poverty, living on less than $1.25 per day.

STUF United Fund is one of the major sponsors of the Garden of Hope-NY, helping Chinese women and children who suffer from domestic violence walk out of fear. The organization helps those women being abused with hotline support, safety planning, emergency shelter, and legal referrals. It also educates the public through workshops and trainings to raise public awareness. Children who witness or experience abuse is provided with free tutoring, mentoring, and summer programs.
Information on activities at the national or international levels
Some of the recent activities at the national level are:

Silicon Valley, California: STUF United Fund partners with Silicon Valley Boys & Girls Club (SVBGC) in California to offer quality after school programs to children in economically distressed communities. Serving over 3,000 youth annually, ages 6-18, SVBGC provides outcome- or needs-based programs that develop the 21st Century Skills to be successful in school, career and life: critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, citizenship and communication.

Palo Alto, California: STUF United provides funding for the uninsured children's medical needs by partnering with The Lucile Packard Foundation for Children?s Health, which works in alignment with Lucile Packard Children?s Hospital and the child health programs of Stanford University in California. The mission is to elevate the priority of children?s health, and increase the quality and accessibility of children?s health care through leadership and direct investment.

Washington, DC: STUF United Fund works with the International Leadership Foundation (ILF) to provide civic fellowship and internship programs to college students. The progrms promotes the civic awareness, public service and economic effectiveness of the Asian Pacific American (APA) community. In addition, it aims to develop young leaders in the United States, Asia, and Pacific Rim countries in the fields of public service, entrepreneurship and the international arena through a network of business and community leaders.

Some of the recent activities at the international level are:

Haiti and Ghana: Through working to Generosity Water, an NGO dedicated to ending the clean water crisis in developing countries, STUF United Fund has built wells in Haiti and Ghana, benefiting more than 3,500 people.

South Africa: STUF United Fund collaborates with NGO Imvula Foundation NPC in South Africa to resolve the problem of children drowning. STUF United Fund provides the funding needed to create 11 portable, inflation swimming pools in the Mdantsane region. The program will enable thousands of primary school learners to have weekly swimming lessons.

Paraguay: STUF United Fund shares non-monetary resources, such as donation of sanitary items, with Fundacion Para La Salud Los Angeles Paraguay-China in Paraguay. The Fundacion collaborates with Hospital Los Angeles Paraguay-China to provide health and medical need to the children and adults in the local area. The incubator program for immature babies has saved more than 5,300 infants. In addition, 112 nutritional stations are set up to offer soybean milk to local residents, benefiting more than 4,100 families. Through monthly e-Newsletter and setting up a designated fund, STUF United Fund also shares the foundation?s updates with international readers who are willing to support their causes.
