With the ultimate aim to improve the human rights conditions Pairvi intervenes strategically at various levels through capacity building of grassroots organizations on advocacy, rights based approach and human rights issues and monitoring of human rights conditions. The focus areas of the organizations work in India (nationally as well as sub-nationally) include climate change and sustainable development; sustainable agriculture and food security; and human rights advocacy and monitoring.
Pairvi?s interventions seek to enhance basic human rights and strengthening an organization's capacity to be partner in development. The capacity building interventions are based on the premise that capacity building of organizations would really translate into improved accessibility, availability and affordability for the under privileged constituency they represent. Simultaneously the organization through its grassroots interventions interacts and involves people and communities in its various efforts.
India is among the most vulnerable countries in the changing climate context due to its high dependence on monsoon for agriculture, food security and livelihood, and also due to its long coastline. Sustainable agriculture is another important focus area as the changing climatic, political and economic processes globally impact the people dependent on the sector and have a huge impact on the food security of the country. Pairvi thus engages with different stakeholders to build their capacity, advocate for effective measures to safeguard the lives of the excluded and marginalized population whose vulnerabilities are increasing due to climate change and variability, and other socio-economic and political processes to ensure that they are a part of the sustainable development and are not left behind. Pairvi?s efforts are backed by research and documentation to provide support to the interventions.
To get to the root cause of the problems, it is essential to strengthen the grass root organizations hence enhancing their capacities and proficiency both in the thematic as well as operational aspects is an important element of Pairvi?s interventions. This enables the organizations to raise and bring the issues in the purview of the government and in an efficacious manner. The programme also seeks to empower civil society leaders, government officials, parliamentarians, and others to sustain the democratic processes by providing comparative information and neutral ground for discussion through national, state level and regional workshops and documentation and information support.
