Information on the purpose of your organization

KEPA's mission is to bring together and inspire the Finnish civil society to act courageously for a just world. Its strategic objectives are 1: Kepa and its members will influence political decision-making in order to eradicate poverty and inequality around the world. 2. Kepa and our membership will work together to influence public opinion in Finland and increase Finnish activities that promote global justice. 3. Kepa will strengthen the operating capacity of its membership.
Information on your programmes and activities in areas relevant to the subject of the Summit and in which country or counties they are carried out.
-Advocacy work towards political decision-makers in Finland, especially Members of Parliament (MPs) and political parties. Kepa will also actively liaise with relevant civil servants and political advisers to ministers. - Close cooperation with and support to the member organisations engaged in advocacy for global justice. - Cooperation with Southern CSOs engaged in advocacy on the same themes as Kepa. - Active participation in and cooperation with relevant regional and international CSO networks, including EU level networks, working on the same themes as Kepa. - Promoting cooperation and networking between CSOs active in awareness raising and strengthening their capacities. - Providing people in Finland who are interested in global issues with tools and channels to influence as change agents for global justice. - Influencing public opinion through Kepa media and through participation in public debate on global justice. - The internal coordination and development of MO relations - Promoting the strong role and enabling environment of civil society in Finland and globally - Cooperation with Southern civil society actors engaged in strengthening and promoting an enabling environment for civil society in the South. - Capacity development of MOs supporting Southern CSOs and promotion of joint learning between MOs.

KEPA works in Nicaragua, Tanzania, Mozambique and the Mekong River Region. In each of them, we support our partner organizations by cooperation and financial support. In Finland KEPA influences political decision making by keeping up contacts with members of parliament and civil servants. KEPA also works on global education issues in Finland, and gives training to its member organizations in several fields connected to its mission and objectives.

KEPA's highest decision making organ is General Assembly. The board is elected every second year by General Assembly whose members are representatives of KEPA's member organisations, by proxy for each meeting. Election procedures follow Finnish law on associations as well as KEPA rules and regulations.
