Information on the purpose of your organization

The Centre for Global Child Health at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) in Toronto Canada provides a dedicated hub for global child health-focused activities and connects researchers and health-care professionals around the world. The Centre is dedicated to improving the lives of children and their families in resource-poor environments through collaboration in groundbreaking research, sustainable capacity building through education, the active communication of results through advocacy, and through promoting improved child health through knowledge and networks.
Information on your programmes and activities in areas relevant to the subject of the Summit and in which country or counties they are carried out.
The SickKids Centre for Global Child Health has supported and advised on various facets and activities related to the Millennium Development Goals (specifically MDG 456) and now the Sustainable Development Goals. The Centre is proud to endorse the United Nations? Every Woman, Every Child Global Strategy and to be a part of Canada?s contribution to improving maternal, newborn and child health around the world. As one of the world?s foremost paediatric health-care institutions and Canada?s leading centre dedicated to advancing children?s health, SickKids is in a unique position to make an impact on a global level.

Current Centre projects and partnerships are in place across Africa, Asia and Latin America. Our Centre leadership is present on various global health and child health board including the Independent Expert Review Group (iERG), the Partnership for Maternal Newborn and Child Health (PMNCH0, GAVI and others. We have been called on in various capacities to advise on evidence related to child health.
