Information on the purpose of your organization

The major purpose of forming the Equal Rights for Persons with Disabilities International, Inc.(ERPDI), shall be for people with disabilities, in collaboration with their friends, family members, healthcare providers, social workers, teachers, advocates and other allies, to directly and indirectly engage in promoting and protecting the rights and human dignity for people with disabilities, women, children, youths, the elderly, victims of human Trafficking and violence against women/men. ?NOTHING ABOUT US, WITHOUT US? The organization shall work to directly advocate for the rights and inclusion of people with disabilities in the society; advocate for the rehabilitation of and equalization of opportunities within society for people with disabilities and their families throughout the United States, Nigeria and African Union, as mandated by the Americans with Disability Act (ADA) and the human rights treaty of the 21st Century, called, the UN Convention on the Rights of People with Disabilities (CRPD), which entered into force on May 3, 2008, and it shall: The organization shall aggressively engage in advocating to prevent any form of discrimination, disparate treatment, retaliations, repressions, unnecessary harassment, intimidation against any person with disabilities or those trying to help people with disabilities, to ascertain their rights under the Americans with Disability Act (ADA), the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) and their Nigerian or African Union?s national?s local disability law(s). The organizations shall encourage utilizing any readily available effective means to stop all forms of discrimination against people with disabilities and corruptions that directly affects the health and safety of people with disabilities. The organization shall serve as a medium for deliberation, for exchange of ideas, knowledge, skills and experiences, and for compilation and dissemination of information to Nigeria and all other African Union. The Organization shall organize international and national conventions, conferences, seminars, UN and African Union Conference side-events and courses of instruction on Disability Policy Changes in the United States, Nigeria and African Union. The Organization shall encourage and directly engage in research in the areas of disability rights and inclusion, prevention of causes of disability, disease prevention and treatments, Centers for Independent Living, rehabilitation of and the equalization of opportunities for people with disabilities and their family members, and shall promote measures for the prevention of causes of disability; and shall also advocate for total eradication of Polio virus infections, diagnoses and clinical management of its late effects called, post-polio syndrome. The Organization shall ensure directly participation of people with disabilities in the activities and governance of the organization, where 70% MUST be set aside for diagnosed people with disabilities ONLY because, ?Nothing About us, Without Us? The Organizations shall encourage the enactment by The Federal Republic of Nigeria, her 36 states and African Union of such disability policy change legislation(s), as will further the development of medical, educational, social, political, rehabilitative, habitative and other needed programs for people with disabilities herein set forth and give all appropriate assistance to that end. The Organization shall directly engage in promoting signing and ratification, which MUST include, full implementations of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) and its Optional Protocol by the United States, Nigeria and other African Union.
Information on your programmes and activities in areas relevant to the subject of the Summit and in which country or counties they are carried out.
1. Develop/upgrade programs or projects for Community-Based Rehabilitation Centers for Independent Living and Centers for Nigerians with Disabilities and the homeless. 2. Peacefully take people with disabilities that parade the streets of Abuja and other major cities of Nigeria, off the streets as beggars and street traders, into where they can start going through rehabilitation, vocational job training and placements centers and institutes, medical treatments, psychosocial counseling, leadership training, capacity buildings, empowerment programs, Centers for Independent Livings and others. 3.Training in Agriculture, which includes paltry, fishery, cattle, goats raring and other agro allied projects. 4. Training on machine tools and die making, wheelchairs, and other medical equipment for Polio, stroke, spinal cord injuries and accident and other Survivors. 5.Training on how to work for the oil and gas and other mineral industries. Rational: Persons with disabilities represents a significant overlooked development challenge, and ensuring equality of rights and access for these persons will have an enormous impact on the social and economic situation in Nigeria. Article 26 of the United Nations Conventions on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities highlights the pragmatic and action-oriented measure to be undertaken by states parties to undertake and support inclusive development for PWD. One of such actions is the role of government in ensuring that people with disabilities enjoy comprehensive habilitation and rehabilitation services and programmes, particularly in the areas of health, employment, education and social services. Expertise and Operational Capacity Consultants would engage to facilitate an initial assemblage of the core drivers of engagement mechanism. The core drivers together with a Disability right consultant would work in collaboration with government staffs, to design an action plan, which will identify the key steps and resources, needed to successfully deliver on the outputs of the intervention. Our collaborative Organizations for People with Disability will utilize independent professional consultants for a fee and our expert training in the field of implementing the UN CRPD and Community-Based Rehabilitation Center for Independent Living to serve as the apex organizations of the Projects, to oversee the successful implementations, which the project would employ. We would also, in collaboration with the government recruit expert managers/project officers as in the case of other local projects for better efficiency. Activities Study Tour Feasibility Study for new projects Baseline survey/Rapid Assessment of Existing Facilities and implementations of its Projects. Conduct census on more than 25.5 million Nigerians with Disabilities, in order to collect an accurate statistical data. Conduct Strategic Alliances Workshops (Government/Private/nonprofit organizations partnership. Focused group discussions/Stakeholders workshops to identify gaps. Community-based Education. Establish Implementation Team. Capacity Building Workshops for Trainers/social workers, Teachers, Educators, psychologists and Para-medical workers. Establish how to train Workers on Academic Services, Vocational Evaluation, Employment Development, Work Redness & Skills Training, Counseling & Case Management, Therapeutic Recreation & Fitness, Traumatic Brain Injury Day Treatment, Life Adjustment, Health Management, Residential Services, Transitional Living, Driving Evaluation/Training, Behavioral Management, Nutrition Services Engage Consultants to develop resource handbook for the projects Engage Monitoring and Evaluation Consultants Establish Polio/Post-Polio Clinics for Diagnoses and Clinical management of Post-Polio Syndrome and help in total eradication of Polio virus in Nigeria.

Nigerian-Americans with Disabilities Living in the Diaspora and our Diaspora Peoples organizations, Equal Rights for Persons with Disabilities International Inc., FESTAC-USA and Kaysom Holdings, Inc., are founders and members of the Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities of Nigeria in the Diaspora, USA, which is a member of the Rehabilitation International (RI), a global network of more than 1000 organizations of persons with disabilities, service providers, agencies, professionals and experts in a broad range of disability-related issues. We the Nigerian-Americans with Disabilities were the ONLY Nigerians with Disabilities our of 25.5 million populations, who were members of the then, International Disability Caucus (IDC), who successfully, directly negotiated with the UN State Parties for this human rights treaty of the 21st Century to be adopted, signed, ratified, and entered into force. We the Nigerian-Americans with Disabilities living in the Diaspora and our Diaspora DPOs were the ONLY Nigerians with Disabilities out of over 25.5 Million population of Nigerians with Disabilities and actual DPOs formed by Nigerians with Disabilities ONLY, who represented Nigeria, through the Rehabilitation International (RI) and directly, during the Ad Hoc Sessions of the CRPD, adoption, signature signing ceremony, Entry into force, and First Through Third Sessions of Conference of State Parties to the CRPD. We continued in collaboration with our fellow Nigerians with Disabilities based in Nigeria to represent Nigeria from the Third through 7th Sessions of the Conference of state Parties to the CRPD and will be attending the 8th Session of the Conference of state Parties. Therefore, We are accredited by the UN Conference of State Parties to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

We the Nigerians with Disabilities Living in the Diaspora and our DPOs, also represented Nigeria during the 2013 High-Level Meeting on Disability and Development. We the Nigerian-Americans with Disabilities, International Disability Alliance, Disabled People International (DPI), and RI and its members were actively involved in the negotiations with UN State Parties, toward the Convention and continue to promote universal ratification and implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of People with Disabilities (CRPD). We the Nigerian-Americans with Disabilities Living in the Diaspora were the ONLY Nigerians with Disabilities who successfully lobbied and urged the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and Nigeria answered us and signed the CRPD and its Optional Protocol on March 30, 2007 and Ratified it on September 24, 2010.
