Creative Learning is a non-profit organization based in Washington, DC. Since its inception in 1977, Creative Learning has assisted communities, non-governmental organizations, and educational institutions at home and abroad to foster change that has a lasting social impact.

Focusing on communities with pressing human needs, Creative Learning enhances the capacity of local organizations around the world to improve the lives of people in their communities. Through the creation of people-to-people partnerships, we are especially dedicated to protecting human rights, supporting economic and social development, and building peace.

Our programs:

Global Education Initiatives (GEI) operates short and long-term programs of an educational nature abroad that combine service, academic and practical experience to deepen participants? knowledge of, and appreciation for, other national cultures. Programs, which are thematically based, take place in specific countries in cooperation with local universities, and are centered around the four themes within GEI: Development, Human Rights and Social Justice, Interfaith Relations, and Arts and Culture.

The purpose of the Human Rights and Advocacy (HRA) division is to strengthen the capacity of human rights civil society organizations (CSOs) to respond to human rights violations by enhancing their security and fostering collaboration with the newly elected government, and to raise awareness of social and individual human rights through outreach and education. Libya, Egypt, Guatemala, Peru,

America?s Unofficial Ambassadors is a citizen diplomacy initiative, which builds mutual understanding and enhances people-to-people partnerships between America and the Muslim World. We do this by placing Americans in volunteer positions in the Muslim World and helping them share their experiences upon their return.Our programs include Summer Service Internships, School-2-School, the AUA Network, the Mosaic Grant Program, and the AUA Directory of Recommended Organizations, . Through these programs we have supported volunteers in Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Jordan, Morocco, Oman, the Palestinian Territories, Senegal and Tanzania.

Aid to Artisans (ATA) creates opportunities for low-income artisans around the world to build profitable businesses inspired by handmade traditions. ATA offers access to new markets, business training, eco-effective processes and design innovation through a network of partners to promote sustainable growth and community well-being. ATA joined Creative Learning in October 2012 with plans to strengthen and expand its ability to implement artisan development initiatives worldwide.ATA currently works in countries throughout Africa, Asia and Latin America: Benin, Belize, Burkina Faso, Chad, Mali, Ethiopia, Morocco, China, Colombia, Guatemala, and Haiti.
