Women Educators of Nigeria
Information on the purpose of your organization

We exist to mobilize, co-ordinate, facilitate, and advocate on education and women issues. WEAN also seeks to provide mechanism for gender balance and grassroots citizenry involvement
particularly women in effective service delivery and utilization.
Information on your programmes and activities in areas relevant to the subject of the Summit and in which country or counties they are carried out.
Realizing gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls will make a crucial contribution to progress across board (in the SDGs and targets), Women Education Association of Nigeria has been involved in series of relevant activities such as:

- Grant in aid to female pupils/students in vulnerable situations including those with disabilities to promote women's and girls' access to quality education.
- engaging government through lobbying, advocacy and dialogue to address the unfinished business of 35% affirmative action for women in both elective and appointive offices.
- scholarship scheme for female students studying french for effective positioning of women in regional trade and integration
- capacity building of female politicians.
Information on activities at the national or international levels
- scholarship scheme for female students in selected secondary schools in Ghana and Nigeria
- Functional french literacy program for market women in Nigeria in collaboration with Rivers State Senior Secondary Secondary Schools Board through Women Education Center in Nigeria,
- Establishment of vocational/entrepreneurship development club in collaboration with School Based Management Committees in primary and secondary schools at the sub-national level.
- conduct gender sensitive peer review in local government and validation exercise through the assessment of the citizenry's perception of the quality of governance from the gender perspective.
- sensitisation on the domestication of New Partnership for Africa's Development (NEPAD), National Program of Actions (NPoA) in governance at the sub-national (local government) level
- tracking og government funding on education
