Instituto Global Attitude
Information on the purpose of your organization

The Global Attitude Institute was founded to bring Brazilian youth to the table. Despite being the fifth most populous country in the world and a leader in South-South cooperation and diplomacy, due to an overall lack of will and established civil society organizations, Brazilian youth are often missing from international discussions on the issues that will affect them much more than older generations: development, climate change, biodiversity, free trade, multilateral diplomacy, economic cooperation, and sustainability. In addition to allowing Brazilian youth to have a seat at the table and for others to learn from their perspectives, we thoroughly train out delegates so that they make the most of their international experiences, many of whom have no access to international experiences.

Y20 Environmental Committee (Annual)- In preparation for the G20 youth events we host in Brazil and the ones in which we take part in the respective host city, our environmental committee goes through intense training with the environment and climate change experts throughout Brazil, travelling to the capital Brasília in order to meet with and learn from top policy makers. At the events, our delegates participate in discussions about sustainable growth and economic aspects of climate change. Insights are gathered and included in the final communiqué.

From Rio+20 to Rio 2016: A Roundtable on the Environmental Impact of the 2016 Olympic and Paraolympic Games in Development- We brought youth and community members together to discuss the effects of climate change and large sporting events on the environment and development. After learning about the direct impact of climate change and large events on the local community during a roundtable held at a community center in one of Rio's most famous favelas, the students were tasked with creating an English-language website to give international visibility to the residents' experiences and to raise awareness.

Independency Theory- GAI took a group of students from Brazil's most prestigious university into rural areas and help enroll rural entrepreneurs in new government tax regimes designed to regularize irregular businesses and allow them to pay into retirement and insurance plans. The programme will be continued next year and will include a new branch called the Development Starts at Home programme, which will focus on urban travelling salesmen and street vendors, allowing them to be able gain permits that prevent them from being harassed and asked for bribes from authorities and that can even allow them to accept credit cards.
Information on activities at the national or international levels
Global Attitude seeks to connect Brazilians with international experience which are often hard to come by in Brazil for various structures and bureaucratic reasons. We conduct events throughout Brazil, impacting a wide range of students and young professionals. Through these national events, we select delegates that will participate in international events representing the Brazilian youth voice (such as Youth BRICS 2015, Civil BRICS 2015, Y20, OECD, World Bank Annual Meetings 2014, EU-BRICS 2015, among others) Upon return, delegates share their experiences with peers in universities, interest based communities and workplace.
