Information on the purpose of your organization

The purpose of our organization is to a build global network of educators who work in formal and informal classroom and community settings to build a sustainable world. We focus on the areas of sustainable peace, reconnecting people of all ages to nature, and empowerment of students and educators to change their communities.
Information on your programmes and activities in areas relevant to the subject of the Summit and in which country or counties they are carried out.
International Peace Education focuses on sustainable peace in communities through human rights education, nurtuting mediation and reconciliation skills, a focus on peace building and in particular abolition of nuclear weapons. Build awareness of the UN efforts, curriculum and resources in this area by celebrating benchmark international days.

Value Creating Gardening focuses on gardens, soil and natural areas in our communities so as to reconnect people of all ages to the interconnectedness of life on Earth.

Sustainable Communities Education focuses on empowering people of all ages for change in their communities. Help teachers empower students to learn and take action for change in their communities, based on their own vision and needs.
We are developing an innovative tool that helps educators engage people to reach consensus on a plan of steps toward a more sustainable community, and then measure the results of their actions before moving on to new projects or approaches.

Information on activities at the national or international levels
Our international network is growing in numbers and solidarity across international boundaries. We meet online for board meetings and more recently at our periodic in-person conference in Hiroshima, Japan, this past April. We have also met in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and Paris, France.
Our members are in the U.K., the USA, China, France, Brazil, Martinque, Italy and Malaysia.
Our next conference will be in Costa Rica in 2018.
