Information on the purpose of your organization

The purpose of Agape Scholars International (ASI) is to enhance the lives of orphans, street children, and disabled learners residing in Blantyre, Malawi by: promoting agency and youth development, providing food, water, and a free, quality education.

The purpose of this organization is driven by the need to address a variety of challenges youth orphans and homeless populations face. The following are key goals of the organization used to advance the purpose of Agape Scholars International.
?To increase access to basic education and improve learning for orphans, girls, children with special needs and vulnerable children through learning center programs that allow children to attend classes without uniforms.
?To increase resources at the community level through provision of books and other educational materials and information technology.
?To offer reading, writing, science, religious studies and mathematics courses to prepare street children to pass the Malawi Primary Leaving Certificate Examination.
?To work with Blantyre city officials for creating awareness of the challenges for street children and to jointly formulate creative, positive methodologies to ameliorate the growing number of displaced children.
? To utilize the Agape House Learning Center to practice a holistic approach to achieving all goals.
? To provide nutritious lunches, and hygiene and first aid services for all learners.

As the Heads of State and Government and High Representatives of the United Nations decided on new Sustainable Development goals, the Agape Scholars International organization has found greater relevancy in our ongoing work, community need, and purpose for our organization. In efforts to join in the important task of transforming our world and eradicating poverty across the globe, the Agape Scholars International team is committed to promoting the following UN Sustainable Development goals set for the 2015, Time For Global Action Summit?to adopt the Post- 2015 Development Agenda:
? provide inclusive and equitable quality education, irrespective of sex, race, ethnicity, and including persons with disabilities, all migrants, indigenous peoples, children and youth, especially those in vulnerable situations
? eradicate extreme poverty in the Blantyre, Malawi community by 2030
? fight malaria, HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, hepatitis, Ebola and other communicable diseases through awareness and prevention initiatives
? provide children and youth with a nurturing environment for the full realization of their rights and capabilities, helping our countries to reap the demographic dividend including through safe schools and cohesive communities and families
Through our organizations work in Blantyre, Malawi, we have promoted and will continue to actively promote these goals to empower the lives of youth orphans, refugees, and homeless children in Malawi.
Information on activities at the national or international levels
In efforts to align with United Nations Sustainable Development goals, increase access to basic education, and improve learning for orphans, girls, children with special needs and vulnerable children the following programmes are used:
?Provide books and materials to youth and families across rural community
?Offer reading, writing, science, religious studies and mathematics courses to prepare street children to pass the Malawi Primary Leaving Certificate Examination
?Fundraising events in the United States such as: Speak Easy dinners, Open Mic Nights, and organizational awareness talks
?Work with Blantyre city officials to highlight awareness of the challenges for street children and to jointly formulate creative, positive methodologies to ameliorate the growing number of displaced children.
