The general objective of the Commission is to promote the effective conservation, management and development of the living marine resources of the area of competence of the Commission, in accordance with the FAO Code of Conduct for Responsible Fisheries, and address common problems of fisheries management and development faced by members of the Commission. 16 of WECAFC's 35 members are considered small island developing States.
The main objective of this partnership is to help the reconstruction of the primary school "Republic of Chile," where 584 girls study. This is one of the few public schools in Haiti, a country in which about half of the population is illiterate. The school was severely damaged after the earthquake that struck the country in 2010, and since then girls from preschool through ninth grade were relocated to other educational establishments in Port au Prince. Scaling Up Nutrition, or SUN, is a Movement, led by countries, committed to the understanding that good nutrition is the best investment of the future.
