Enel (2nd SE4All Forum Commitments)
Description/achievement of initiative

Enel is a multi-national power company and a leading integrated player in the world’s power and gas markets. The Group operates in more than 30 countries across 4 continents. Enel has been strongly committed to support the United Nations SE4All initiative through its program “ENabling ELectricity”.

Implementation methodologies

“ENabling ELectricity”, launched at the end of 2011, aimed at doubling the number of its beneficiaries worldwide by the end of 2014. The goal was instead achieved in 2013 and therefore has been now extended to over 2.5 million beneficiaries. The new target - for the time horizon 2015-2019 – is even doubling the number of direct beneficiaries to almost 5 million beneficiaries. Furthermore, the organization has been committed to invest 8.8 billion € in the development of renewable energy capacity for the period 2015-2019, a 50% increase versus previous plans. 7,100 MW will be added up to its installed capacity worldwide.
