Description/achievement of initiative

Masdar, Abu Dhabi’s renewable energy company and strategic government initiative, has announced a new raft of major commercial projects, as well as a flagship initiative on women’s leadership in sustainable development.

Implementation methodologies

On the heels of commissioning the London Array (the world's largest offshore wind farm) and the 100 MW Shams 1 CSP plant, Masdar is developing projects in Egypt, the 400 MW Dudgeon offshore wind project in the United Kingdom, a 117 MW wind farm in Jordan, and a 50 MW wind farm in Oman. The company is also launching the Women in Sustainability, Environment and Renewable Energy (WiSER) initiative, which provides a highly visible platform for female leaders at major global cleantech and innovation events and focuses attention on bringing more women into the field. The Zayed Future Energy Prize, the world's preeminent award for clean energy and sustainability at $4 million annually, additionally continues to announce new laureates and its categories include large corporations, non-profits, small and medium enterprises, high schools, and lifetime achievement.
