Government of Norway (2nd SE4All Forum Commitments)
Description/achievement of initiative

Norway has committed 1.8 billion NOK/220 mill USD in 2015 to sustainable energy in developing countries. This includes support through Norfund, the Norwegian Investment Fund for Developing Countries, which mobilizes private capital for renewable energy investments. Norway supports 15 African and Asian countries to promote sustainable energy and mitigating CO2 emissions. Support is also provided through multilateral channels and programmes like the World Bank, Asian Development Bank, GEEREF, IRENA, ENDEV, Clinton Climate Initiative etc.

Implementation methodologies

A key strategy for Norway is to mobilize new partners and focus on the role of private sector. Creating a predictable investment framework for energy investments is key. This includes developing and improving financial instruments that can mitigate risks and increase the volume of private investments, including public-private cooperation.
Norway is ready to continue supporting SE4ALL and will allocate 30 mill NOK (approx. 4 mill USD) to SE4All in the period 2016-2018.
