#SDGAction10311
Government of Swaziland (2nd SE4All Forum Commitments)
Description/achievement of initiative

The Government of the Kingdom of Swaziland opted into the initiative through commitment from His Majesty King Mswati III. Swaziland has developed and launched a Rapid Gap Analysis and Action Plan which commits to:
1. Strengthen universal access to electricity,
2. Promote productive use of energy,
3. Improve access of households to LPG, and
4. Promote, enforce and educate Swazi citizens on energy efficiency.

Implementation methodologies

The Swaziland Government has developed strong partnerships with the private sector and the development partners, such as the United Nations, the European Union Commission, USAID Trade Hub, ROC Taiwan and the Energy and Environment Partnership to name a few, to leverage funding for the Investment Prospectuses for implementation of the SE4ALL Action Agenda (estimated cost US$2 billion).
To date the Swazi Government has funded Solar PV installations in public buildings, improved cook-stoves and rural electrification initiatives. Development partners have provided financial and technical support towards development of legislation, policies frameworks and capacity building while the private sector has committed to research and power generation from biomass and hydropower by 2018.
